Make breakfast fun for your kids with these easy Apple Peanut Butter French Toast Roll Ups. They are fun, delicious and kids will surely love these!
It’s time to get back to school! This time always brings back so many memories. School life is probably the best time of your life and of course no one ever realizes that when they are in school but once you grow up and get into the whole boring adult life, it doesn’t take much time to realize it. Although my school time has long been over, I still miss it a lot. Especially during this time of the year, when the school re-opens I get really nostalgic. So many memories from my childhood keep coming back. I was so crazy for school stationery (and actually I am still crazy!) that I would take my mom to several stores to get different types of pens, erasers, color pencils and what not. Also the excitement of getting a new bag or a new lunch box was unparalleled. Such simple things bought so much joy!
Back to school time is always busy. It can especially get really busy for parents. Meal planning and execution is always a huge challenge. There’s breakfast, lunch, after school snack, dinner and so much in between and it surely can get overwhelming. Making these french toast roll ups is so easy. You can get these done in like 15 minutes. Simply flatten your bread, apply peanut butter, place some apples and roll. The rolls up hold really well together, since there’s peanut butter in there so you don’t need to do much to seal the edges together. Once that’s done, simply dip them in the custard > cook > roll in cinnamon sugar and done! And kids will love these, after all there’s peanut butter and cinnamon and apples. Need I say more?
Method
In a bowl whisk together NESTLÉ® CARNATION® Evaporated Milk, egg and vanilla extract. Set aside. Also mix sugar with cinnamon powder in a plate and set aside.
Take the bread slices and trim the edges. Take a rolling pin and thin out the bread slice so that it’s easier to fold it.
Apply peanut butter all over the bread. Place chopped apples on one end of the slice.
Start rolling from the side where you have the apples. The ends will stick easily because of the peanut butter.
Repeat the same thing with the remaining slices. Meanwhile heat a tablespoon of butter in a pan on medium heat.
Take one of the french toast roll and dip it into the prepared custard. Shake off the excess.
Similarly, dip each roll into the custard and place all of them on the heated pan.
Cook till both sides turn golden brown.
Remove the french toast roll ups from pan and roll them into the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
Sprinkle powdered sugar on top (if desired) and serve the apple peanut butter french toast roll ups immediately.
