I love holidays because there’s so much fun and happiness associated with them. But you know what is that I love most about the holidays? Yes you guessed it, food! Lots of treats, baking, good food it’s all so much fun! With Easter just around the corner, I knew I had to come up with some fun treat, something which was not only delicious but also looked perfect for Easter.
During my weekend trip to grocery store, I spotted Super Snack Pack which were bigger than the regular snack packs. Being a chocoholic, I obviously picked the chocolate flavor [they are available in vanilla flavor too] and immediately thought of using them to make some cute little Easter baskets. The super snack pack has 60% more pudding per cup than the regular snack pack. Additionally it also has the same amount of calcium as an 8 oz glass of milk.
Along with the snack pack, I also picked Honey Maid Graham Crackers and Mini Nilla Wafters from Walmart to mix in with my pudding cups and make them even more delicious. Some Walmart stores also have a special super snack pack display with lots of mix-in ideas for Easter. So keep an eye out for those during your next Walmart trip!
I also picked up some coconut flakes, rainbow twizzlers and chocolate eggs to make my Easter basket. As soon as I got home I opened the snack pack [which now comes with easy to open lids] and before I could even start working on the project, I gobbled up few spoonfuls of the pudding. It’s tough to resist so much deliciousness especially when it’s in front of your eyes. Do you blame me?
I also needed some candy melts for this project, to make little bunnies and flowers. You can find melting wafers or candy melts at any grocery store or at stores which have the cake decorating stuff. If you can’t get the colored candy melts, simply add food color to the white candy melts and it should work just fine. I found the bunny and flower template online and I have shared the link to those below.
Get your kids, family involved in this project. I am sure they will have a blast making these Easter basket pudding cups!
Method
Print the bunny template from here. Transfer it on to a baking sheet and place parchment paper over it. Secure the parchment paper with tape or by placing heavy objects on it so that it doesn’t move when you trace the pattern.
Melt white chocolate candy melts, transfer melted chocolate to a piping bag fitted with a small tip [I used wilton tip #2] or you can use a ziplock bag and make a tiny little cut in the corner. Trace the bunny pattern on the parchment paper and fill it with melted white chocolate. Let it set.
Once the white chocolate is set, melt dark chocolate candy melts, transfer to a piping bag and pipe eyes and nose. I used wilton tip # 1 for piping the nose and the eyes.
Let the chocolate set completely. Peel off the bunnies from the parchment paper carefully.
Print the flower template from here. Transfer template to a baking pan and place parchment paper over it. Secure the parchment paper with tape or by placing heavy objects on it so that it doesn’t move when you trace the pattern.
Melt red and pink candy melts [or any color of your choice]. Transfer melted chocolate to a piping bag fitted with a small round tip. Trace the flower pattern on the parchment paper and fill it with the melted chocolate.
While the chocolate is still wet, place a yellow sprinkle ball in the center of the flower. [Tip: use a tweezer to place the ball in the center]
Once the chocolate is set, carefully peel off the flowers from the parchment paper. You can dust them with some shimmering powder but that’s optional.
Take your snack pack and remove the lids. Add in your mix-ins, crushed honey maid grahams and mini nilla wafers [3 on each]. Top with coconut flakes. I just took some sweetened coconut flakes and added green food color to it to make it look like grass.
Place mini-eggs [3 on each], the prepared candy melt flowers and bunnies on top of the coconut grass.
Take the rainbow twizzlers and insert toothpick into it from both the sides. Now place the twizzler inside the pudding cup and there you have it, your cute little Easter basket pudding cups! Adorable right?
Hop over to your local Walmart store and get snack pack to create your own Easter treat. Kids will love these! Check out some more mix-in ideas here. Also there’s a great deal going on right now at Walmart. If you buy one of these super snack pack, you get $0.50 off! Isn’t that awesome? Get the coupon here.
