Protein shake with the wonderful flavors of rose and cardamom. This Rose Cardamom Protein Shake is the perfect post-workout shake that also tastes delicious!
My husband goes for indoor rock climbing twice a week. This started last year and since then he has been super regular with it. I have always been a gym girl but my hubby? He never liked the gym. I dragged him with me to the gym so many times but he would get bored and not want to come the next day. He has always been someone who enjoys playing different sports and doing adventurous stuff so maybe gym was not his thing. Well it took me some time to understand that but I did and since then I have been wishing for him to find something he enjoys doing and he finally has. He never misses his rock climbing. Since he goes after work, he wanted me to come along as well and so I did. It was okay for a while but just like he doesn’t enjoy the gym, I didn’t enjoy the rock climbing. But I found a way to accompany him! There’s a gym right next to the rock climbing thing and I joined that. Smart right? This way we both get to do what we like and I also get to accompany him and he doesn’t have to feel guilty for leaving poor wifey at home until late in the night! ?
And since we both are into this workout routine, we obviously need protein shakes to get going. My favorite these days is this Rose Cardamom Protein Shake.
My rose cardamom protein shake is inspired from one of my favorite drinks from childhood. Mom used to make a similar milkshake for us (minus the protein powder of course!) and we used to drink it all the time especially during summers. This protein shake is just a twist on that drink! The rose syrup is already sweetened so I did not add any sugar here. You can find this rose syrup at any Indian grocery store.

Rose Cardamom Protein Shake
Hello Manali,
I have started cooking finally and I am following you site since two days and made two dishes already. So I am hooked with your site.
I have a quick question regarding this. Can I use rose petals instead of rose syrup?
If yes. what else need to be done.
you can, in that case I would add some sugar (if you want sugar that is).
I’ve been making something similar with sweet rose tulsi tea, which I’ve gone through a box of in no time – both hot and cold. Plus loads of cardamom, coconut cream, and a little of the usual ‘bulletproof’ goop. ;> Most protein powders drive my GI tract crazy, so I added some almond butter and raw cacao butter.
But yours looks SO pretty and mine is drab. So I’m merging this with your strawberry rose iced tea recipe. 🙂 I have it steeping overnight in the fridge. I’ll find out tomorrow if I used enough berries… oh the carbs! Horrors! ;>
Hi…it looks great… though i don’t like cardamom in drink, had to try this one.
Thank you Dannii!
Thank you Sarah, I love the color too!
